About Us

The Wolf River Theatrical Troupe, Inc. began in 1982 as a summer theatre only, founded and directed by Margie Brown, New London native and teacher. After several years, the Wolf River Theatrical Troupe branched out into the dinner theatre circuit with cooperation from Russ Gerhardt and Jane Gorges at the Rainbow Supper Club in New London. In the years that followed, the Troupe performed live theatre at many different locations until 1994 when the opportunity to purchase the former Markman Clothing Store on North Water Street in New London took place. Having its own home, the Wolf River Theatrical Troupe began producing 4-5 shows every year, and became a 501c(3) non-profit organization. Having the flexibility of owning their own facility, the Wolf River Theatrical Troupe began bringing in guest artists and started a summer children’s theatre. Several years later, the building infrastructure began to fail, and the building was eventually torn down. There was another attempt to locate in an empty commercial building in the downtown area that was unsuccessful. The Wolf River Theatrical Troupe again spent several years without a home until the current property was donated to the Troupe by Real Opportunities Outreach in 2018.

Mission

The Mission of the Wolf River Theatrical Troupe is to provide live entertainment by presenting a variety of quality performing arts and to encourage, support and promote community participation and appreciation of theatre and the fine arts.
